About Randy

Second generation, over fifty years of experience

I started in this trade at 16, working alongside my father. He taught me to prep before I paint, to find out why the wood rotted before I replace it, and to buy the better material even when the cheaper one is sitting right next to it on the rack. I still work that way.

I spent my career with the Bartlett Fire Department and retired as a Captain. I kept the family trade going the whole time.

Why my clients call me

I do it right, not fast

There's a difference between a paint job that looks good the day the check clears and one that still looks good in eight years. I know how to build the second one.

Everything on this list is something you can watch me do, or check afterward. That's on purpose.

What you get

Four things

I do the prep work

I don't buy builder-grade

I show up when I say I will

You deal with me, start to finish

What I do

Painting, drywall, carpentry, and much more

If you don't see your job listed, call and ask. After 50 years there's not much I haven't run into.

Interior painting

Interior Painting

Walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and cabinets. I patch and prime before I paint, so the finish lays flat and stays that way.

Exterior painting

Exterior Painting

Siding, soffits, fascia, and trim. Memphis weather is hard on paint, so I prep the surface and use coatings built to take sun and humidity.

Commercial painting

Commercial Painting

Offices, storefronts, and rental property. I can work evenings and weekends so your business keeps running.

Taped and finished drywall seams with a taping knife and mud pan

Drywall

Hanging, finishing, and repair. Water stains, nail pops, cracked corners, and holes, matched to the texture you already have.

Rotted wood trim crumbling at the corner of a window

Rotten Wood Replacement

Soft trim around windows, doors, and rooflines. I cut out the rot, find what let the water in, and replace the wood with material that won't rot again.

General repairs and remodeling

General Repairs and Remodeling

Most of what a house needs. If it's carpentry, drywall, or paint, I can handle it, and I'll tell you straight if it's a job for a specialist.

Just a few of the materials I use

Better material, fewer repeat repairs

Cheap material is the most expensive thing you can use on a project, because you end up paying for the labor twice. Here's what I buy and where I buy it.

Tom Eubanks Lumber Company

This is where I get MiraTec treated exterior composite trim. It comes preprimed, resists moisture, rot and termites, and carries a 50-year warranty.

84 Lumber

Where I buy LP SmartSide and SmartTrim. LP makes it, 84 Lumber is the yard that stocks it for me. Engineered siding and trim, treated to resist moisture, fungal decay, and termites. Those are the three things that kill standard pine trim in this climate, and the SmartTrim carries a 50-year limited warranty.

NEVEROT

A cellular PVC window from Central Woodwork. Every part of it that sees weather is PVC instead of wood, so the frame can't rot out at the sill the way a wood window does, and the PVC carries a 20-year warranty. Where I've replaced rot once, I don't want to replace it again.

ProSource Wholesale Floorcoverings

Where I source flooring — carpet, hardwood, tile, laminate, vinyl. They're wholesale and trade-only, so it isn't a store you can walk into; the material comes through my account, at wholesale. Their showroom is on Appling Road in Bartlett, so you can go stand on a floor before you pick it.

Sherwin-Williams Duration and Emerald

Two lines, two different jobs. Duration goes on walls and siding, and carries a lifetime limited warranty, which means the manufacturer will stand behind it. Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel goes on trim, doors and cabinets — it dries harder, and it won't amber the way an oil enamel does, so white trim stays white.
